Sam Chase is a professional musician and teacher based in Marshfield, MA serving the South Shore area. Over the past decade plus, he has been teaching lessons to hundreds of students of all levels of experience. Sam brings patience, positivity, and a sense of humor to learning an instrument. His goal is to make students feel confident, comfortable, and able, so that they can enjoy music in their lives not just now but for years to come.

What makes Sam a great choice for a teacher is his versatility. His ability to bring out the best in his students on a multitude of instruments makes him a one-stop-shop for the entire family. In addition to the three main instruments he teaches on (guitar/piano/drums) he has extensive knowledge in recording and production having released four studio albums and receiving a degree in Production & Engineering at Berklee College of Music. Sam also maintains a heavy performing schedule as a solo artist, giving his students the opportunity to see their teacher perform regularly - something Sam believes helps fuel the inspiration and will to keep at it.

Testimonials

We love Sam,  We were lucky enough to pick up an empty slot 4 years ago for our then 7 year old son Aidan...I say lucky because getting Sam to teach your kid in our hometown is not easy, he has quite the waiting list.  What I love about Sam is his incredible patience...kids this age can love piano one minute and hate it the next...Sam understands this and finds a way to get through to each child and we have seen our now 11 year old son turn in to an amazing piano player...each year at his school talent show Sam has worked with him to prepare a song that we have been told is a highlight of the show...and the greatest compliment to SAMs teaching is when parents of other piano players ask us...” Who is teaching him and are they taking new students?
— The Hughes Family (Marshfield)
I just want to express my appreciation for Sam’s ability and dedication in teaching me the fundamentals of drumming. Although I am undoubtedly his oldest student at 60 years old, it gives me great pleasure to continue learning by playing the music I love. As one gets older it is important to keep training the brain - use it or lose it they say! The satisfaction that comes from finally “busting through” the brain’s and body’s natural aversion to foreign, physical actions such as unnatural syncopated rhythms and fills is really quite special.
It is always easy to want to just go down and bang on the kit, but his consistent, knowledgeable lessons (not to mention periodic displays of Berklee brilliance for my inspiration) keep me moving forward. That is very important since it is easy to get into ruts and end up playing the same thing all the time. Also his ability to pick out exactly what the drummer is playing in my favorite songs and demonstrate it almost instantly attests to his own solid foundation and abilities.
— Will Hale (Scituate)
Sam is our third and favorite piano teacher.  My kids have been taking piano & guitar lessons with him for nearly 4 years now (6 total).  Coming from a family of musicians, Sam is multi-talented and provides excellent instruction in both theory and technique.  He really motivates my kids to practice and learn; in fact, my son has posted some pretty impressive piano cover songs on Youtube!  I would definitely recommend Sam as a music teacher or in any capacity where he can showcase his talents.
— The Cafferty Family (Norwell)
Sam is not only a gifted musician but a wonderful teacher.  He has taught our son piano for seven years and we couldn’t be more grateful for the music and friendship he has brought to our family.
